Windows and Doors

Your windows and doors are some of the most important features of your home. You can see your windows and doors from both inside and outside the house, which means they are a part of both your exterior and interior décor. There are also many different styles of windows and doors to consider. The style of your windows and doors determine the style of your home, be it Mid-Century modern, traditional, farmhouse or some other style of home. Windows and doors are also functional, of course, allowing entry to your home and to various rooms in your home, and, in the case of windows, allowing air and natural light to enter.

Greenerz can help you remodel your home with brand new windows and doors to suit your needs. Whether you need a new entry door to better match your home’s exterior décor, insulated windows to save energy, or simply are looking to update your current doors or windows, we have the trained, experienced contractors you need to do the job fast, affordably, and with an eye towards being environmentally conscious. We are available to meet all of your installation or customization needs when it comes to doors and windows in Los Angeles County and surrounding areas.

Window Installation in Los Angeles and Beyond

At Greenerz, we have experts in window installation waiting for your call. These experienced contractors can remove your old window and fit your new one just about perfectly in a much shorter time frame than you might expect. Some window options you may want to consider include:

  • Double-Hung Windows

A typical single-hung window opens from the bottom to let in air. With a double-hung window, you can open the window from the top or the bottom while keeping the window in the frame. This adds a next level of convenience and style to your home.

  • Awning Windows

Awning windows are quaint little windows with a top hinge that open out. You will often find them above other windows for an added element of décor. These windows also work well in areas where you want to be able to let air in, but not necessarily let people see inside, as you can mount them high on your wall.

  • Stationary Windows

Stationary windows are used primary for decorative purposes and to allow light. They do not open, and are most commonly installed in contemporary-style homes where you will see many different custom sizes and shapes of stationary windows. Picture windows are a special type of stationary window that is extra large and positioned to offer breathtaking views of nearby outdoor vistas.

  • Casement Windows

A casement window is a window that you turn with a small crank to open. They open outward from either the left or right depending on where the hinge is placed.

  • Transom Windows

These are slightly narrow windows that you may choose to include to complete a cohesive decorative look. They can be stationary or traditional operating windows and you typically find them above an existing window or door for added light penetration.

  • Slider Windows

These are windows that open horizontally by gliding on a track. You are most likely to find this type of window in a modern home.

  • Energy Efficient Windows

At Greenerz, we are always more than happy to help you by installing energy-efficient windows. Energy-efficient windows are insulated windows that have double glass panes to prevent heat transfer. They can also have glass that is specially coated to prevent heat transfer, reflecting some of the sun’s rays rather than letting them all through, while still allowing light to penetrate. These types of windows can help you conserve energy as well as protect you and your furnishing from the debilitating effects of ultraviolet radiation.

If you have any questions about types of windows or whether a certain type of window will go with your home, or if there is a type of window that you are interested in that you don’t see here, please call us up and we’ll do whatever we can to meet all of your window needs.

Door Installation in Southern California

As important as windows are to your home, doors are even more important. Your front door is the last thing a visitor sees before they enter your home, and doors frame almost all of the rooms of your house. When considering new door installation in Los Angeles and the southern California area, there are a number of different types to consider:

  • Entry doors – Which allow entry into your home and are seen from the outside of the house.
  • Storm doors – Which provide an added layer of protection from hazardous weather.
  • Interior doors – Which separate the rooms of your home and provide privacy.
  • Patio doors – Which allow access to your outdoor patio.

Once you know which type of door you need, there’s a matter of the style and material of your door. Some of the many door options that we at Greenerz can install for you include:

  • Wood Doors

Wood doors make both great exterior doors and interior doors. They are strong, sturdy, enable you to show off their unique craftsmanship, have their own distinctive character and are sound-insulating for privacy. You can choose different types of wood to suit your style and match your home’s existing décor, and with proper maintenance, wood doors can last for many years.

  • Fiberglass Doors

Fiberglass doors are molded to look like real wood. If you want that wood look but don’t want to pay for or care for an actual natural wood door, molded fiberglass doors are for you.

  • Double Doors

More commonly found in vintage homes or as an entry to a larger room, these are essentially two doors right next to each other either slab or pre-hung, meeting in the middle of the frame.

  • Bifold Doors

Bifold doors are made up of hinged panels that fold together to allow access, so they are good for closets or smaller areas where there is not a lot of room for a swing-out door.

  • French Doors

Many people enjoy putting French doors in all types of homes for an added level of elegance. These interior doors are easy for us to install for you and consist of large glass panels that let light in freely. They are a great way to divide a space into multiple rooms without cutting the space off and making it feel cramped.

  • Sliding Doors

Sliding doors are doors usually made of glass that slide horizontally to open rather than swinging out. They are convenient for areas where you don’t want a swing out door and are often find in the rear of homes to allow access to a backyard or patio.

  • Pocket Doors

Pocket doors are another type of sliding door for areas with limited space. They can slide right into the wall so need very little room, and may be used for small space areas like bathroom closets, for example.

  • Flush Doors

Flush doors are doors with a wood veneer that look almost built into the wall. The flush door is a hip, modern design that you can find in contemporary homes. You can choose different wood species for your flush door look.

  • Louvered

A louvered door, which is sometimes called a plantation door, is a fiberglass or wood door that have blinds built in, which you can open or close to allow air to pass through. They are convenient for rooms where ventilation is important, like a laundry room, but not as much for rooms where more privacy is required, as they are not soundproof.

Some other useful terms to know when discussing doors include:

  • Hollow Core

A hollow core door is just what it sounds like, a frame and plywood veneer with nothing inside. If you really need a door but have little room in your budget, ask about hollow core doors.

  • Solid Core

Solid core doors are much preferable to hollow core doors. These doors have a solid inner core in the frame, which may be laminated with steel or plywood. These doors are much more able to provide privacy and soundproofing, protect you from fires and offer insulation.

  • Slab

A slab is not a style of door, it is just a way of talking about doors. The slab is simply the material of the door with no knob, hinges or frame attached. You may order a slab if you have an existing fame to put it in and want to pick your own custom hardware.

We realize you may have a lot of questions about types of doors, especially if you’ve never had a new door installation before. Please call us up any time and we’ll provide you with all the information you desire about different types of doors and what might be appropriate for your home.
